US officials have told the Associated Press that an extra $12million in humanitarian aid will be provided to Syrian civilians. This new aid announcement will take total US humanitarian relief to $76millions since Syria’s conflict began last year. Washington also announced that $25million in communications equipment and medical supplies would be provided directly to the Syrian opposition. However, this additional aid is separate to that. The additional relief money will go to the UN refugee agency, the international Red Cross, UNICEF and other organisations providing assistance to Syrian civilians, the officials said.
