International aid group Doctors of the World, and Jordan’s Health Ministry will open a new medical centre in Ramtha to help treat thousands of Syrian refugees. In a statement, Doctors of the World said:
“The health center’s opening will mark an important step in the project to improve health care access for Syrians who have fled to Jordan, Lebanon or Turkey. To consult a doctor or get medical treatment is a challenge for many of the thousands of Syrians who are present in Ramtha. Their access to health is limited by their scarce financial resources and the strain on the Jordanian health services.”
On Monday, Jordan’s Council of Ministers also approved the creation of several refugee camps to assist in hosting more than 140,000 Syrian refugees who have fled to Jordan since March 2011.
